The Maria Callas Suite and the Bel Etage
The Jewels in the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Crown

Historical charm and timeless elegance are woven into the fabric of the internationally famous grand hotel Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. Avoiding pomp or gaudiness, the guest experiences luxury on an entirely different and exceptional level, especially when staying in one of our suites. Our 33 suites reflect the grand history of the hotel in a special way, never artificial or fake, but with a care for detail which produces an authentic experience.

Celebrity Suites

Maria Callas debued in Hamburg on 15 May 1959 in a large gala evening in the music hall. Two years previously, the diva had met Aristoteles Onassis at a ball held by the Countess of Castelblanco in Venice. Their second meeting in Hamburg marked the beginning of one of the greatest love stories which brought the prima donna and the tanker king together for the next nine years. The couple travelled widely and often, always staying in the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten when in Hamburg. The Maria Callas Suite, located on the first floor and overlooking the inner Alster spans some 95 m² and stands out through both the exquisite materials and finest antiques incorporated in the design. Scene photos from Callas operas, biographies of the diva and her CDs and DVDs remind today's guests of their illustrious predecessor.

The hotel has three further suites: the Thomas Mann, Prince Heinrich and Sir Peter Ustinov Suites on the Bel Etage.

Bel Etage

The British film legend sir Peter Ustinov was a regular guest in the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, residing in an unassuming double room on the fifth floor. In his last entry in the leather bound guest book from 2003 and addressed to the hotel director Ingo C. Peters, Sir Peter wrote "I have known this great hotel for a long time. Now, dare I say under your guidance dear Ingo it is better than ever." After the complete redesign of the fifth floor in 2008, Ingo Peters named the best suite after his long-term regular guest Sir Peter Ustinov. The Sir Peter Ustinov Suite now represents the cornerstone of the new Bel Etage and can be connected with three further double rooms to make up a generous "three bedroom suite."

The Bel Etage is a term from the late nineteenth century, referring to the best floor of an aristocratic or gentleman's home, usually found on the first floor. The Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten also had a Bel Etage 100 years ago, referring to the spacious guest rooms on the first and second floors.

After its renovation in 2008, the fifth floor presents a stunning concept, young in design and rich in detail and making use of the best materials and lively colours. The rooms and suites overlooking the Alster all have a balcony providing a breath-taking panorama over the river. Relaxation has never been so easy.

The Presidential Suite

The presidential suite offers its guests unique, generous luxury. With its impressive 260 m², it is the largest suite of its kind in Hamburg, Consisting of three bedrooms and an impressive living space with a view of the inner Alster, it also sports the adjacent Alster salon for private banquette groups of up to 12 people. One of the three bathrooms is fitted with a whirlpool. A flat screen television set in the mirror provides a unique multi-media bathing touch. Moreover, the suite comes equipped with all the technical refinements which the modern guest of today requires. Two BOSE stereo systems, an iPod docking station, a DVD player with digital satellite TV, a Loewe HDTV flat screen television, Video on Demand, a Nespresso machine, a multi-media PC with a wireless keyboard and four laptop connections for video conferencing satisfy even the most demanding guest.

Costing 4 000 € per night, the suite comes with a complementary "full bar" with the best spirits, champagnes and soft drinks, a limousine transfer service, a butler service, a selection of exclusive designer cosmetics and an opulent flower display arranged following guest wishes. A range of other conveniences round off the experience.

Ingo C. Peters, managing director of the establishment since 1997 underlines the particular attraction of his hotel: "the more Hotels built in globalized identical style, the better for us. We are a traditional hotel but not old fashioned. We are a grand hotel but are by no means behind the times. This hotel is a classic."
